
Gil has broad experience as a manager and senior developer in corporate and start-up environments. In the course of his army service in the Israeli Elite Special Forces and afterwards, he experienced firsthand the implications of facial recognition and the risk it holds to people’s privacy. Gil decided that restoring privacy will become his mission. He studied the topic, focusing on computer vision and image processing, completing a B.Sc. degree in Computer Science at Tel Aviv University. After his graduation and upon gaining the necessary knowledge, Gil invented one of the most complicated and groundbreaking algorithms in order to protect photos from face recognition technologies. This served as the foundation for creating D-ID.
