Blumberg is currently the Deputy, Vice-President and Dean for Research and Development at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and also director of the Earth and Planetary Image Facility, a remote sensing research laboratory.  Blumberg has published numerous papers in the field of remote sensing, image processing, and target detection.  Blumberg received his Ph.D. from Arizona State University in 1993 and is a full Professor at BGU since 2008.
